The 2005 release of "Too Many Cars In My Yard" reflects the growth the band had gone through in the years since their first release- the songs on this disk range through a broader array of styles, encompassing bluegrass, traditional country, rockabilly, folk and even gospel. Guest musicians appeared on this record, adding a greater range of sounds with dobro, pedal steel and fiddle figuring into the mix. Many staples of the band's live show were documented on this one, including "I Can Always Count On You To Let Me Down" and "Even The Roaches Miss You Since You're Gone". But perhaps the defining track of this album was "Don't Pave My Road", an anthem against urban sprawl and a protest against seeing the quality of life in the South diminished in the name of "progress". |
